Event description

Description

Which grass seed mixes work best for Scottish soils and climate?

Ready-bagged grass seed mixes are typically developed in southern England & Wales, in conditions very different from those experienced by farmers in Scotland. This field lab is looking at the effectiveness of alternative grass seed mixes, better suited to the soil type, climate and length of growing season in Scotland. This is our second meeting at Mouldyhills, where we’ll be looking at how the trial plots (which were seeded last summer) have fared in the face of very challenging conditions. We’ll be joined by grass and soil expert James Bretherton from AgScope and Andrew Best from Watson Seeds. To find out more about the Field Lab read this initial report.

Hot refreshments provided.

Free to farmers and land managers; £40 + VAT to others. Booking is required.
