Event description

Description

Monday 23rd April, The Bank, Neilston Development Trust

10.30am or 2pm

Join us at our second Field Lab event with Locavore, where the focus will be on getting to know how soils can work for you with Horticultural expert Paul Flyn.

Over the next growing season, this Field Lab will be exploring ways to increase crop yields, improve soil health and reduce the need for weeding.

The growers at Left Field market garden will be experimenting with 7 trial beds of kale and a range of different methods, including planting through black plastic, undersowing with green manures, and intercropping with lettuce & radishes.

At this session Paul will give a presentation on key aspects of soil health & fertility, followed by a practical soil workshop at Left Field demonstrating simple ways that you can analyse your own soil. Join our Less Toil Better Soil facebook group for more regular updates.

Hot refreshments provided. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch and join us at The Bank for a chat over lunch between 1-2pm (after the morning workshop has finished or before the afternoon one starts).

Free to markets gardeners, growers, and farmers. Booking is required.

For more information contact Clem on 0131 666 2474 or email.

Funding for this activity is made available through the SRDP Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Fund (which is jointly funded by the Scottish Government and the European Union), with partner funding from Quality Meat Scotland, Forestry Commission Scotland, Innovative Farmers and The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation.
