About this event
FIERCE WOMEN+ COURSE
Ever wondered if history can be fun? We can prove it!
Join our Heritage Worker for an immersive series of workshops taking an intersectional look at women's rights and history. It's time to learn about the history you were never taught at school! No previous experience required, this course is aimed at all levels so just bring your enthusiasm.
This workshop series is aimed at women+ (inclusive of non-binary people) and we welcome newcomers, so if you've never been before, now is your chance to get involved!
During the course, you will get the chance to:
- Use all your senses to explore each theme
- Delve into history through objects and stories
- Learn how the law has changed
- Bake an African recipe and discover its connections to a traditional Scots biscuit
Workshop themes:
- Women
- Childhood
- Fashion & Beauty
- Rule Breakers
- Cookery
- Work
Booking: The course runs weekly on Wednesdays (13th, 20th, 27th August; 3rd 10th, 17th September) 12.30-2.30pm, and once you are signed up for the first workshop you are booked on to the whole course. Please only book if you can make the majority of the workshops, so you get the most out of the course.
Children: The course is not suitable for children to attend. Please let us know if this would prevent you from participating and we will try to figure something out.
Ticket prices: The course is completely free, with the option to donate to Kairos. All funds go towards the running of our wee space.
The Space: Our space is wheelchair accessible with an accessible bathroom. We are located at the Embroidery Mill, which is part of Abbey Mill Business Centre, and our entrance is the step-free blue door off the car park. Our building is directly across from Morrisons in Paisley. It is not the Mile End building with a tall tower up the road. If you put 'Kairos Women+' into Google Maps it will bring you straight to us. Contact us for more info.
Transport: We are a 12-minute walk from Paisley Gilmour Station and the main bus routes. There is a large car park in front of the building. We will need your registration number on arrival when you sign in for free parking.
Food & drinks: We will provide hot drinks, water and diluting juice and snacks free of charge. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.
Accessibility: we are a wheelchair accessible space with ground floor, level access and an accessible bathroom. If you have questions about access, pop us an email on info@kairoswomen.org. Find out more
