The Future of the Workplace: Responding to changing skills demand in financial services sector

Emerging technologies, competition, customer expectation around cost and ease of accessing services are disrupting the financial and related professional services sectors. At the same time, TheCityUK* has reported on the megatrends that are driving the need for transformation and has established a taskforce that looks at how skills and job roles in the sector will change in the future. These megatrends – technology and data, globalisation and demographics are driving a fundamental shift in job roles from establishing new roles and responsibilities, multi-generational working and increasing use of technology to deliver current and new service offerings.

At this year’s annual FIG conference, we will hear from speakers in industry who are tackling some of these challenges and starting to reshape their workforce and culture through encouraging innovation and investing in reskilling employees for the future.

During the panel discussion we will hear from employers, the education sector and young people in the financial services industry. We will explore how organisations can prepare for change and create an environment in which existing employees can develop and flourish and how together, we can change perceptions of the sector to attract future talent to help to secure the UK's position as a world-leading financial and professional services centre.
