What do I need to bring?

Just yourself (as long as you are 16 or over), a drink of water, sensible non-marking sports shoes and loose clothing. All other equipment - protective gloves, weapons and shields provided.

We train new warriors with the 'saex' or fighting knife, along with a shield. Over the 4 weeks you will learn the fundamentals of movement (footwork, body mechanics, shield control), while building up weapon skills, sparring confidently with other practitioners in a safe, fun, competitive way.

How much does it cost?

It's £10 to register for 4 sessions. If you decide to continue training the group after the course, it's £12.50 per month. We also have longer term plans that work out to a better value overall. The club provides shields, but if you continue you will need to buy weapons and protective gear.

The aim of our combat training is to be able to put on entertaining demonstrations at events around the country while still having safe, competitive bouts that are fulfilling to the performers. And it's a lot of fun!

This course is tailored to giving you a great set of basics that will be transferable to many forms of martial art, theatre combat and re-enactment. After the course finishes, we train weekly and you'll be equipped to continue in the group, fighting in larger formations and participating in battles at public events.
