Description

Arts Connect are delighted to present their Film and TV Careers Festival hosted at The Studio in Birmingham. This is a free event.

Arts Connect will be joined by some of the region’s leading Film and TV companies including Into Film, Writers Guild, Flatpack Festival, Rural Media, Media Active, The Company as well as a wide range of individual filmmakers who work across the industry.

The event will comprise of practical hands on and informative sessions as well as 1-1 opportunities, film screenings and networking opportunities.

Sessions include: first step jobs, discovering industry roles, do it yourself filmmaking / being a YouTuber, short filmmaking, VR, networking, pitching and CV skills as well as a chance to discover regional opportunities available. Full programme will be sent to attendees nearer the date.


TICKETING AND SCHEDULE

The day is split into 2 tailored slots:

Schools: 10am – 1pm* (Schools may book up to 20 spaces but must confirm their attendance by replying to the email you will receive from Arts Connect after placing your booking. If you fail to reply, your spaces will be released). 60 spaces available.

16-25 year olds: 2-8pm - Sessions run from 2-6pm. 6pm- 8pm: Festival Night including relaxed networking, film screenings and pitching opportunities (further details on pitching will be sent to attendees nearer the time). 70 spaces available.

* There is a separate CPD session available for teachers during the School Slot. The session will be led by Into Film. Staff attending with school groups do not need to sign up separately for this session but please note pupils may not be left unattended, therefore school groups must bring adequate staffing cover if staff wish to attend this session.


TEACHER CPD ONLY TICKET - Careers in Film Training - 1-HOUR SLOT

10.00 – 11.00am: Aimed at upper primary and lower secondary educators, this engaging CPD session gives attendees the chance to learn about roles in the film industry for their young people Focused on four curricular areas (Maths, PSHE, English and Art & Design), Into Film have developed a subject-based approach to film industry careers education. Through dynamic classroom activities, this session will enable teachers to further develop the skill set of their young people and to link their skills to interesting film industry job roles.

Designed for flexible re-delivery in subject-specific lessons, tutor time or as stand-alone careers sessions, this course will provide you with a fully developed PowerPoint presentation and bespoke printable resources for your classroom.

Interlaced with film clips, this fun session will give you a creative approach to engage pupils in an industry that forms a booming part of the UK economy, and help you to broaden your pupils’ outlook and aspirations for the future.
