Sat 11 March 2017, 19:00 – 21:00 GMT
Sonita dreams of being a rapper. However, within Iranian society the rights of expression for women remain unequal and archaic, with Sonita and the filmmaker documenting her struggle attempting to find alternative roots for her voice to be heard. An intimate and revealing look at one woman’s creative expression - a voice that continues to define a new generation of young woman in Iran and beyond. Directed by Rokhsareh Ghaem Maghami.
Learning to Swim, produced by LIVED, provides insight into day-to-day experiences of forcibly displaced Syrians. After being uprooted from their home, the resilient youth of the Zaatari tribe find shelter in Jordan, sharing tales of heartache and loss but always remaining optimistic that one day they will return home.
