Film Fundraiser for Marawi Victims
Event Information
Description
CHRP-UK and Kanlungan, in co-operation with FDWA-UK, proudly present two critically-acclaimed and award-winning Filipino films Tuos and Sunday Beauty Queen.
This event is a fundraising project for the victims and families in Marawi. Marawi is the largest city of the Lanao del Sur, a provice in Southern Philippines, where an ongoing armed conflict between the rebel Maute and the Philippine armed forces is currently happening, causing a rising death toll and displacement of the civilian populace. To make matters worse, the Duterte government's declaration of Martial Law in the whole of Mindanao, Southern Philippines, has intensified not only the steep rise in civilian casualties but also other forms of human rights violations.
The proceeds of this film fundraiser will go to our partners, the Rural Missionaries of the Philippines Northern Mindanao Region, who have been doing a series of solidarity and humanitarian missions in Marawi. Our contribution to this event will definitely help RMP-NMR deliver the 3rd wave of the solidarity and humanitarian missions later this year. To date, there have been two missions held in June and July.
