Event Details

The Regent Street Cinema, the ‘birthplace of British cinema’, is due to open its doors in Spring 2015. To celebrate this occasion, the Centre for Law, Society and Popular Culture is running a series of events to mark this occasion. The Centre has long championed film at the University, creating the first UK module on Film and the Law, setting up the Compton Club championing film history, organising the 2012 exhibition Classified with the British Board of Film Classification and publishing film and law related research.

FILM MATTERS, will be a short series of films running in Spring 2015, interrogating film from a variety of perspectives including the areas of intellectual property and censorship.

The screenings will be followed by a discussion and refreshments will be provided. All take place at LTS 3.07 on the following Wednesdays:

Copyright Criminals: Wednesday 14th January

Google & the World Brain: Wednesday 21st January

Dear Censor: Wednesday 28th January
