About this event

ABOUT THIS FILM

SCREEN: Studio Theatre

RUNNING TIME: 2H 2m

AGE RATING: 15+

IMDb: 6.3/10

Between 6:30pm and 7:00pm, just before the main feature, we’ll be showcasing a film by a talented London filmmaker.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Camden in the early 2000s, Back to Black tells the story of Amy Winehouse, a fiercely talented young woman whose extraordinary voice and uncompromising artistry propelled her from local pubs to international superstardom. The film traces her creative journey as she writes and records her groundbreaking album Back to Black, a raw and confessional body of work that would change modern music. At the same time, it explores the intense and tumultuous love affair with Blake Fielder-Civil that inspired her most iconic songs—an affair marked by passion, volatility, and heartbreak.

As Amy’s fame grows, so too do the pressures of media scrutiny, public expectation, and her own vulnerabilities. The film portrays both her dazzling rise and the personal struggles that shadowed it, capturing her wit, charisma, and fragile humanity. More than a portrait of tragedy, Back to Black celebrates the woman behind the legend—her humour, her rebellious spirit, and the timeless music that continues to resonate long after her passing.
