Barbie (2023)

Barbie follows the story of Stereotypical Barbie (Margot Robbie), who lives a seemingly perfect life in Barbieland, a vibrant, matriarchal world where every day is flawless and every night is a dance party. When strange imperfections begin disrupting her perfect routine—such as flat feet and thoughts of death—Barbie sets off into the real world with Ken (Ryan Gosling) to discover the truth about herself and the source of the disturbance.

In Los Angeles, she encounters the messy complexity of human life, including sexism, self-doubt, and the struggles of identity, while Ken discovers patriarchy and tries to import it back into Barbieland. The film becomes both a hilarious fish-out-of-water comedy and a sharp cultural satire, exploring themes of femininity, consumerism, patriarchy, and self-acceptance. Ultimately, Barbie must choose between staying in her dreamlike world or embracing the imperfect, authentic reality of being human.
