Between 6:30pm and 7:00pm, just before the main feature, we’ll be showcasing a short film by an emerging filmmaker.

Sinners (2025) is a bold, genre-defying film directed by Ryan Coogler, starring Michael B. Jordan in a dual role as twin brothers Smoke and Stack Moore—WWI veterans who return to 1930s Mississippi with stolen mob money to open a juke joint. Set against the backdrop of Jim Crow oppression, the story blends Southern Gothic, horror, and blues-infused drama as the brothers confront racial violence, personal demons, and a supernatural vampire threat symbolising cultural exploitation. Rising star Miles Caton plays their cousin Sammie, a gifted musician at the centre of the moral and mystical struggle, with standout performances by Hailee Steinfeld and Jack O’Connell.

The film won multiple awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor (Jordan) at the 2025 Astra Midseason Movie Awards. Hailed as a “transcendental Southern Gothic vampire musical,” Sinners is both a chilling horror tale and a powerful allegory about Black creativity, survival, and stolen legacy.
