Between 6:30pm and 7:00pm, just before the main feature, we’ll be showcasing a short film by an emerging filmmaker

After years of reckless drinking and self-destruction in London, Rona, a young Scottish woman in her thirties, returns to her childhood home in the remote Orkney Islands to recover and rebuild her life. Haunted by memories of addiction and the chaos of her past, she begins to reconnect with the stark beauty of the landscape, the rhythms of nature, and fragments of her former self. Immersed once again in the wind-swept isolation of the islands, Rona embarks on a journey of healing and self-discovery, confronting the pain she’s tried to escape and learning to find solace in solitude. Based on Amy Liptrot’s acclaimed memoir, The Outrun is a lyrical exploration of recovery, identity, and the fragile bond between humanity and the natural world.
