Directors Kevin Macdonald and Sam Rice Edwards chronicle an 18-month period between 1971–72 when John Lennon and Yoko Ono retreated from the Beatles’ spotlight to a modest Greenwich Village apartment. Against the backdrop of the Vietnam War, Nixon’s America, and major counterculture upheaval, the couple tape their phone calls, binge-watch TV, and dive into political activism. With restored home movies and rare clips (including candid recordings of their phone conversations) the documentary reveals the story behind the only full-length post Beatles concert by Lennon, offering a vivid dive into their creative and social mission.
