Film screening: THE ILLUSIONISTS
Wed, April 5, 2017, 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM BST
Join us at the London College of Fashion for an evening of enlightenment as we explore how unattainable beauty ideals are marketed to people around the world.
The event will include an introduction by fashion commentator and professor of diversity in fashion Caryn Franklin MBE, followed by the screening of award-winning documentary THE ILLUSIONISTS, and a post-screening Q&A with filmmaker Elena Rossini and Louisa Harvey of Endangered Bodies London.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is mandatory - please reserve a seat ASAP.
Synopsis: Sex sells. What sells even more? Insecurity. Multi-billion dollar industries saturate our lives with images of unattainable beauty, exporting body hatred from New York to Beirut to Tokyo. Their target? Women, and increasingly men and children. THE ILLUSIONISTS turns the mirror on media, exposing the absurd, sometimes humorous, and shocking images that seek to enslave us.
