Filming Project Volunteers
We’re developing an online and interactive guide to help men manage the impact treatment for prostate cancer has had on their sex lives and relationships.
As part of the guide we want to film men and their partners talking about these issues. Extracts from the videos will appear on our website.
How you can help
We’re looking for volunteers who are happy to be filmed talking about their experiences of topics such as:
- changes to your sex life during and after prostate cancer treatment
- treatments for erection problems
- changes to your relationship and how you have sex.
There will be two videos - one of men with prostate cancer and the other of partners of men with prostate cancer.
For the first video, we’re looking for men:
- who have had erection problems after prostate cancer treatment for example, after surgery or hormone therapy, and have tried treatments for these such as a vacuum pump or injections, or
- who have had changes to their desire for sex after prostate cancer treatment.
We would like to hear from men both in a relationship or not in a relationship, from different ethnicities and different sexual orientations - we will ask you for this information when you sign up.
For the second video, we would like to hear from partners of men with prostate cancer whose sex life and relationship has been affected.
The provisional date and location for the filming is to be confirmed, and is dependent on the availability of volunteers. We will cover travel expenses for volunteers to attend the filming day. You would need to be available for the whole day though filming is likely to only take a few hours.
We need five volunteers for each video.
What happens after I sign up?
After you complete the registration form, you will be contacted by your local volunteer support officer. They will be in touch to go through the opportunity in a bit more depth.
We will be working with an external company, Hayward Medical Communications, and they will contact you before the filming.
What you will get from volunteering
You will be making an important contribution towards improving information for men with prostate cancer.
