Event description

Description

Fin de Siècle Paris was a city in the midst of transformation both social and political. Beneath this maelstrom there could be found a darker, more esoteric current. This was the age of the Symbolists, the Decadents, Spiritualism, Rosicrucianism, and Satanism. In this lecture we will look at the phenomena of Parisian Satanism from its deep roots to the blossoms of decadent diabolism played out in art, literature, and strange cults. Along the way we will meet Luciferian Freemasons and defrocked priests, unrepentant poisoners and nuns driven mad with sexual frenzy. A celebration of an era haunted by long pale satanic dandies of whom it was said were: "Over-refined, faithless and morbidly self-observant...offering rash incense upon the high places to an unknown God, who is the God of darkness."

7:00pm: Bar opens for pre-lecture drinks
7:30pm - 8:30pm: Lecture follwed by brief Q&A
8:30pm-9:30pm: Bar will remain open for post-lecture drinks
Please note: Guests will not be allowed entry after 7:45pm to avoid interrupting the lecture. If you are running late, please let us know asap
