Ms. Kamila Sidiqi is a prominent activist in Afghanistan and has worked in leadership roles in various sectors. She has worked for the promotion of Afghan trade and commerce as the Deputy Minister for Commerce and was the Deputy Chief of Staff for Admin and Finance in the Administrative Office of President Ashraf Ghani. The Politics Society has the honour to invite you all to come along and hear from her perspective, on what women now face under Taliban rule! The event will be held on May 31st and will start at 18:30 at King's Building. More details on the lecture theater will be released soon!
For the past several years, she has been actively engaged in promoting gender issues, private sector development, transparency and anti-corruption in Afghanistan. Prior to joining the government, Ms. Sidiqi was a successful entrepreneur and was one the first businesswomen of Afghanistan. She is currently working to promote leadership and entrepreneurship skills among Afghan men and women as a business consultant and advisor. Kamila has been recognized as a Peace Hero in Afghanistan and was also part of The International Alliance of Women World of Difference awardees in 2014. Kamila now lives in London with her husband and two children just made it out on time escaping Afghanistan when going back for her mother’s funeral.
