Final Friday Science
Fri 31 March 2017, 08:15 – 10:00 BST
Final Friday Science: An initiative to offer business leaders innovative, profit boosting, scientific talks, along with great networking opportunities and fabulous coffee.
Our first event is at Exeter Science Park on Friday 31st March 2017. We start promptly at 08.30 and we will finish by ten o’clock, but do arrive early for the first hit of coffee. You will hear useful presentations, meet fascinating people and fit this easily into your working day.
Our first speaker will be Samantha van Beurden talking about a smartphone app that helps manage impulse management and reduce weight. Samantha is a PhD researcher at the University of Exeter Medical School whose ImpulsePal is showing promising evidence in promoting weight loss, reducing snack consumption and curtailing cravings. Samantha is currently looking to use ImpulsePal to benefit other health risk behaviours.
Our closing speaker will be Dani Hilliard. Dani is an expert at crafting well written, persuasive business arguments. An experienced teacher who stepped out of the classroom to pursue her PhD at the University of Exeter, Dani developed a process that challenges people to argue and think for themselves within a structured and caring environment. Originally designed to help A level students improve their written work, Dani -- with the support of SETsquared -- has successfully translated into the world of business, offering users the ability to create winning arguments. Dani will explain how her research and underpinning theory has been translated into demonstrable business value
Final Friday Science is a collaboration between The British Psychological Society (South West), Set Squared* and Haddleton Knight. The events are aimed squarely at decision makers, with unapologetically top drawer speakers tasked to give you memorable scientific information to help your organization’s performance.
*Set Squared is the enterprise collaboration between the universities of Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey
