Overview:
This course is designed for those who need to gain a clearer understanding of the basics of business finance. It covers how finance influences the decisions that are made on a day-to-day basis at a departmental or company-wide level.
The format of the day includes facilitator-led discussion, group and individual activities, and practical examples of financial information and reports.

Who should attend?
This course is an introductory level course for business finance. It is particularly suitable for anyone in, or moving to, a role that involves management of a budget whether that be at departmental, divisional or company level. Our more advanced course is “Finance for Non-Financial Managers”.
Learning Outcomes:
- Gain an understanding of the basic principles and terminology of finance
- Learn how to interpret key financial information
- Learn how to communicate and present your financial position and budgets more credibly to your colleagues
- Understand the difference between turnover, profit, and cash flow
- Develop an understanding of the methodologies and language of the finance function
- Learn how to read and understand annual reports and company accounts
- Understand costing principles and the difference between variable and fixed costs;
- Explore key approaches to calculating profitability and liquidity
