Active Views with Passive Tools: Ben will discuss using the next generation of passive investment products to tightly control drivers of risk and return and will include a description of the current market landscape and outlook for the remainder of 2016.
The target audience will be financial planners, paraplanners, investment professionals, accountants and legal professionals.
The learning objectives will be to:
- Understand advanced passive products (aka Smart Beta) including strengths and weaknesses for common product types
- Understand how advanced beta strategies can be incorporated into client portfolios
The learning outcomes will be for the audience to come away with a clear understanding of advanced passive products and how beta strategies can be incorporated into portfolios.
About the speaker
Ben Seager-Scott is Director, Investment Strategy at Tilney and is responsible for developing and deploying the investment strategy across the group. He is a member of the asset allocation committee and fund selection committee as well as the investment committees that oversee the multi-manager funds and managed portfolio services. In addition, he leads the research coverage of passive/beta strategies and is co-manager of the Advanced Passive Portfolios range of UCITS funds. Before this, Ben spent 4 years at Whitechurch Securities in Bristol where he was a Senior Analyst. Ben has a PhD in Biochemistry and is a CFA charterholder.
When & Where
Financial Liverpool is a society for professionals working in the financial services sector in Liverpool, including financial advisers, discretionary fund managers, pension providers, private client lawyers etc.
We host ten meetings per year, usually the last Friday of the month.
The current format is a talk for about an hour followed by a lunch where you can network with fellow members. The events start at noon and are hosted by Tilney BestInvest in the Royal Liver Building.
The events are free for members, and membership is free if you are a member of CII/PFS (otherwise a charge of £50 applies for your firm's annual membership).
