Three major pension policy changes (new state pension, auto-enrolment and pension freedoms) are shaping the pension landscape and the Government’s consultation paper on strengthening the incentive to save for retirement has now closed.
Malcolm McLean gives a high level view of the new pension landscape with some videos along the way.
The target audience will be advisory firms who advise individuals on their financial planning in retirement.
The learning objectives will be to:
Understand how the background to the three major policy changes and how they inter-relate;
Recognise language can be a barrier to understanding pensions;
Be briefed on other big changes in the pipeline.
The learning outcomes will be for the audience to have a clearer picture of the pension landscape.
About Malcolm McLean
Malcolm is Barnett Waddingham’s in-house ‘pensions expert’ and is one of the firm’s leading media spokespeople.
As the former Chief Executive of the Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS), Malcolm has an extensive and up-to-date knowledge of all aspects of the UK pensions industry.

When & Where
Financial Liverpool is a society for professionals working in the financial services sector in Liverpool, including financial advisers, discretionary fund managers, pension providers, private client lawyers etc.
We host ten meetings per year, usually the last Friday of the month.
The current format is a talk for about an hour followed by a lunch where you can network with fellow members. The events start at noon and are hosted by Tilney BestInvest in the Royal Liver Building.
The events are free for members, and membership is free if you are a member of CII/PFS (otherwise a charge of £50 applies for your firm's annual membership).
