Description

The aim of this Masterclass is to provide attendees with a better understanding of three key areas of financial management and to help them make better informed financial decisions.

Those areas are:

  • Management Information
  • Tax planning for business
  • Obtaining funding and raising finance

Attendees will be invited to openly discuss the issues raised and how they relate to their business, as well as being invited to share real life issues they are facing within their business.

Session Content

This Masterclass will cover:

  • Management Information – What is good quality management information? Why is it important? How can technology help you obtain the best information about your business?
  • Tax planning for businesses – Key tax issues all businesses should consider
  • Obtaining funding and raising finance - An overview of the process and the types of funding available

  • Gain a greater understanding of some of the fundamentals of good financial management.
  • Gain a greater understanding of how to deliver more insightful, and useful, business information, and how this can lead to better informed decisions and performance.

  • Gain a gretaer awareness of the current taxation issues facing business.
  • Gain a greater understanding of the processes involved in raising finance and the different types of funding available.

Who is the masterclass for?

This course is aimed at business owners or decision makers within the business, and will be of use to those with and without a financial focused role.

Who is leading it?

This Masterclass is being delivered by Sheffield and Chesterfield-based accountants Shorts (www.shorts.uk.com).

Speakers include:

  • Andy Irvine (Audit and Accounts Partner) – Andy looks after many of Shorts' larger corporate clients for whom he closely monitors their accounting and taxation requirements. As a Chartered Tax Adviser, he actively identifies tax planning opportunities for clients and has considerable experience in leading due diligence assignments.
  • Tim Baum-Dixon (Senior Manager) - Tim specialises in assisting business to get the most from their management information, accounting systems and processes. He specialises in helping to providing high quality management information for businesses of all sizes.
  • Scott Burkinshaw (Tax Partner) - A Chartered Tax Adviser, Scott focuses on providing proactive corporate and personal tax advice. By understanding the objectives of businesses and their owners, Scott can draw on his extensive experience to advise on the most tax efficient ways to achieve their short and long term aims.
  • Andy Ryder (Corporate Finance Partner) - Andy has extensive experience of lead advisory assignments including acquisitions, disposals, management buy outs / buy ins, fund raising, and financial modelling across a variety of sectors and a range of deal sizes. He has also undertaken a wide range of due diligence assignments.

Eligibility

We are pleased to be able to provide this masterclass free of charge due to funding from the European Regional Development Fund. There are a number of eligibility criteria for attendees which we will check using the online registration questions and in a phone call to every attendee prior to the event.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

This Masterclass will take place at Shorts' Sheffield office. Located near Ecclesall Road, the office has a number of parking bays for visitors.

How accessible is the venue?

This Masterclass will take place on the first floor. There is no lift.

I would like to bring a colleague, is this ok?

No, only one attendee per company is permitted.

Will refreshments be provided?

Lunch is being provided from 12:30pm, along with an opportunity to network with Shorts, Sheffield City Region Growth Hub Enhancement Project team members and other delegates.

This event will be delivered by the ‘Sheffield City Region Growth Hub Enhancement Project’ that is part-funded by the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020. The project, for high-growth businesses in the Sheffield City Region, aims to increase their competitiveness and so help them grow and prosper.
