Simon was born in 1974 and raised in Sheffield, where he still lives and works today. His father arrived from the Caribbean in 1955 as part of the Windrush Generation. Simon is married with two children, works as a manager in Sheffield City Council’s Edge of Care service, and is a trustee for the Zest Centre an organisation dedicated to supporting community wellbeing and inclusion.

Parking

On street parking is free from 1830 and widely available on Hill Street, Harwood Street and other local roads.

ACCESS

Portland Works is a Victorian building, access is via the green doors on Randall Street up two steps off the street. The Makerspace lecture room is accessed by a wide staircase with bannister rail. We do not have wheelchair access. A steward will be on hand to assist anyone with mobility problems

Refreshments

There will be an interval during which refreshments will be served. There is no charge but voluntary donations are gratefully received.

This lecture is part of our annual programme. We aim to deliver 6 or 7 lectures a year, normally on the third Wednesday evening of the month, from March to October excluding August. A wide range of talks is delivered, generally focussed on Sheffield and the surrounding area's history and heritage.
