Finding resources on the web
Nick Dimmock (Research Information Specialist)
It's very easy to find information on the web - in fact it's practically impossible not to. This workshop focuses on ways to ensure the information you find is useful and usable.
We’ll look at effective ways of searching for various types of information of interest to researchers, from research papers and images to government information and datasets, using a variety of online tools and services.
We'll also cover finding and using Creative Commons content - information and materials you can freely build on or integrate into your own research.
At the end of this workshop attendees will be able to:
• Identify and use effective sources for various data types
• Find content licensed for reuse within their own work
• Understand and apply the principles of Creative Commons licensing.
