Event description

Description

Do you know your John Green from your Sally Green or your Scout Finch from your Theodore Finch?

Does the ‘Hunger Games’ mean something more to you than just the time between lunch and dinner?

If the answer is either ‘yes’ or even ‘no’, then come and find your inner teenager during this two-hour creative writing workshop on Young Adult Fiction.

With around 30,000 Young Adult books published every year, writing for a teenage readership has become more and more popular.

Learn techniques to write convincingly from a teenager's perspective, with a particular focus on dialogue, characterisation and narrative voice.

We’ll also open the floor to discussion and questions about reading, writing, and publishing Young Adult fiction.

For those who’ve never even heard of Young Adult fiction to wannabe writers who’ve already penned their own pieces, this workshop will help you learn new writing skills, share ideas, meet like-minded people, and fully appreciate the importance of writing for teenagers.

Florianne Humphrey is a journalist who has written two Young Adult novels. She privately tutors creative writing and leads group writing workshops for universities, schools, charities, and arts organisations.
