TWO DAY WORKSHOP FOR ACTORS WHO WANT TO FIND AND IMPROVE THEIR SINGING VOICE

About this Event

This two day intensive workshop is for actors who want to feel more confident singing and performing songs. It provides a unique opportunity to work in a supportive small group setting with two highly experienced professionals committed to freeing the voice and unlocking the text.

Barbara and Katy have 60 years of teaching experience between them. They have spent nearly a decade co-teaching and have clients in the West End and on Broadway.

Each participant will have the chance to work on two contrasting songs.

Barbara has coached on many West End Shows including The Ferryman, Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, The Kenneth Branagh season at the Garrick, The All Female Shakespeare’s at the Donmar and Richard III and Macbeth for Jamie Lloyd. Individual clients include Daniel Radcliffe, Jude Law, James Purfoy, Clive Owen, Lenny Henry, Will Young, Matt Willis and Louise Redknapp.

She currently teaches voice to graduate and undergraduate acting students at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and has a private studios in Knoxville and New York City. Her experience ranges from musical theatre to professional opera to classical and pop concerts with professional orchestras. Her commitment to free and organic vocal technique within all musical genres has given her a unique ability to help singers produce healthy and supported sound in any type of song. Her experience has let her to believe that musical style, vocal colour, emotional intent, and even pitch range can all be available to the actor with healthy technique when driven by the understanding of the text and subtext.
