Finding Your Spark:

Re-Energise Yourself and Your Workforce

Led by: Will Craigie, Owner, BOOST programme

A continuing challenge for senior leaders in the third sector is how to maintain levels of energy in both themselves and staff. This challenge has increased dramatically in the current climate of austerity and job uncertainty and the findings of ACOSVO’s Path to Impact project confirm this.

As energising ourselves becomes ever more important there is a growing body of evidence showing clear links between people’s energy levels, their performance and general health & wellbeing. Research has demonstrated that low energy can result in disengagement, presenteeism, errors of judgement, illness and ultimately absence from work.

The good news is that there are a variety of interventions that you, as leader, can take to raise your own energy and to create an environment in which your staff can flourish and succeed.

In this interactive workshop you will be given the opportunity to assess your own energy level and discuss with your peers the elements that affect our energy in the workplace. We will explore a variety of tools and techniques which will help you build energy in others and you will create an action plan for energising yourself and your organisation.

The content of the day will be framed around the ideas and needs delegates bring to this engaging workshop but will include some or all of the following:

  • assessing energy levels,
  • identifying reasons for energy downturns,
  • positive emotions,
  • creativity,
  • values,
  • meaning and contribution,
  • building resilience,
  • engagement,
  • motivation,
  • appreciative inquiry,
  • socialising.

About the facilitator:

Will Craigie is a consultant, trainer and coach with a passion for learning how the brain works and sharing this knowledge with others to help them be all they can be.

Following his graduation from the University of Aberdeen, Will enjoyed thirty years in the private sector with AstraZeneca, Scottish Brewers and Diageo in a variety of senior technical, operational and people development roles. In pursuit of personal goals he established Ability to Capability in 2006. A2C is based on his belief that everyone has ability. Will offers people additional skills, knowledge and above all focus, to help them release their full capability to excel.

In 2012 Will created BOOST, a team development programme founded on the latest research into people’s psychology and behaviour. BOOST helps teams diagnose their own personal development training needs. Will then designs and delivers engaging workshops packed with carefully selected tools and techniques. There is a growing body of evidence to show that such an approach builds health and well-being, enhances team relationships and so improves individual and organisational performance.
