Event description

Description

Most management consultancies use case study interviews as part of their candidate evaluation process. Case studies mirror the work consultants do on a day-to-day basis and are designed to test candidates’ ability to think logically about business issues, to put structure around unstructured problems, and to communicate and present the solutions to these problems in a concise way.

EPOC is starting a Postdoc consulting case study club!

For our second session, we'll be hosting CAR.

CAR is a consultancy, made up of a diverse group of specialists in a variety of fields from sustainability to natural disasters and engineering. CAR provides a framework for innovative and research-based consultancy by specialists in all aspects of the built environment. They are on the lookout for new people to work through CAR and add to, or even expand CAR’s scope of expertise.

The evening will cover the following themes:

Team-building Stephen Platt (Director)

Research consultancy vs academic research, William Fawcett (Chair)

Getting and delivering consultancy projects, Jason Palmer (Director and Energy Consultant)

How CAR operates and ways to join, Discussion led by Frances Platt (Finance and Executive Director) and Tyrone Bowen (Structural Engineer and Deputy Chair)

CAR is also offering internship opportunities for postdocs on their ongoing consulting projects.

The event will be followed by pizza and beer.
