At FINDRA, we understand the importance of getting outside for your mental and physical health. We run social rides, runs and walks for men and women to socialise, practise their skills and have fun.
But we also know that the next generation of female mountain bike riders need to be supported in a friendly, open and supportive atmosphere so they're not afraid to be themselves and ride their bikes!
That's why we're supporting led mountain bike rides with Dee Hollingsbee - a local, qualified mountain bike leader.
Statistics show that girls are more likely to bow out of sport during High School, so we're opening up this ride to girls aged 12 - 17. This is a safe space with no judgement, only encouragement.
The Important Stuff
This is a Led Ride with Dee. She is TCL qualified and a leader with both Cranked Kids cycle club and the Highschool MTB club. The second ride leader is Caroline Maggie, teacher at Galashiels Highschool.
Girls will receive a free FINDRA goody bag and attendance is free.
Girls will need to be dropped off and collected from the ride and parents will need to fill out an emergency contact/consent form at the drop off.
The meeting point is at Buzzard's Nest Car Park in Glentress. We will do blue, into red routes at Glentress and finish at the Peel cafe (for cake) about 12.
Bikes must be in good working order. Girls must carry a spare inner tube, water, snack, waterproof and spare layers. Helmets and gloves are mandatory.
