At our free Winchester School of Art Fine Art Summer School, we will be working alongside the onsite Winchester Gallery Small Worlds exhibition. You will explore concepts such as experimental drawings, sculpture, responding to exhibitions, and curating your own and others work.

During the first day we will be working in the gallery, creating a series of experimental drawings and sculptures with different media, based on pieces in the exhibition. You will also explore how contemporary gallery spaces are set up, alongside the ways they engage the public. We will wrap up the day by planning our own pieces for the show. On day two we will create our planned pieces, exploring your own creative interests and mixed media techniques. To round of the course, you will learn how to plan a mini exhibition engaging with curatorial concepts through creating our own display.

At the end of the two-day course learners will have explored drawing, painting, sculpture, process-based art, and curation. These courses are additionally developed with all learners in mind, employing inclusive techniques allowing students who may find school difficult to experiment and explore in a comfortable environment. The work created on this course is prefect for college or university application portfolios, or just as a fun way to explore art and curation methods during the summer holidays! Students do not need any previous experience for this course.

We will also be running a series of other summer courses including Textiles (Sustainable Luxury), Fashion with Fashion Management and Marketing, Graphic Communication, and Games Design with Creative Computing, please see our page for more details.
