Preparing for the Viva
Prof Chris Roe

In this workshop we'll discuss the purpose(s) of the viva from the different perspectives of the student, examiner and university and use these insights to help us plan the best way to prepare for your own viva. There'll be lots of opportunity to ask questions, discuss concerns and share experiences.

This workshop will be followed by a Q&A session with two PhD alumni.

Finding funding: Using Grantfinder database
Karen Lewis (RSBO)

This short session will show you how to use the Grantfinder database, the University's new funding finder tool.

Marketing yourself effectively
Laura Swallow (UN Careers Service)

This two hour session will focus on writing your CV (chronological, skills & academic), covering letters and application forms.

This workshop is open to any student currently registered on a research degree programme at the University of Northampton. Further information is available from Simone Apel (simone.apel@northampton.ac.uk; 01604 893418).
