Course Overview

Our FinOps Certified Practitioner course allows individuals in a large variety of IT and technology, finance, procurement, and leadership roles to validate their FinOps knowledge and enhance their professional credibility.

This official FinOps Certified Practitioner course covers the fundamentals of FinOps, including all components of the FinOps Framework and key concepts in each of the three sections of the FinOps lifecycle: Inform, Optimize and Operate.

The course is an informative and enjoyable way of learning by working with peers. After passing the FinOps Foundation exam, the FinOps Certified Practitioner Certification is valid for 24 months.

Course Format

This on-line course is run for one day and includes group discussions and exercises that are highly interactive. Our instructor is a real-world practicing FinOps leader who will share their knowledge and experiences, but please come prepared to share your ideas, challenges and ask questions!

Course Outcomes

Our course helps you understand what it means to be a FinOps Practitioner and how this role helps build a culture of FinOps and continuous improvement into an organisation. Throughout this instructor led course, you will develop an understanding of FinOps, its practice areas, and how it is applied to enhance business value from cloud operations.

At the end of the course, you will be able to complete the FinOps Foundation exam to gain your Practitioner certification (examination fees are included). Employees of organisations undergoing a cloud-first strategy or who are migratign to cloud will also benefit greatly.

• Leadership: Technology leader, such as a Head of Infrastructure, Head of Cloud Centre of Excellence, CTO or CIO or Cloud Budget Owner
• FinOps: FinOps Analyst, Director of Cloud Optimization, Manager of Cloud Operations or Cloud Cost Optimization Data Analyst
• IT & Engineering: IT Program and Portfolio Management Leader, Systems Engineer, Cloud Architect, Service Delivery Manager, Engineering Manager or Director of Platform Engineering, Senior Enterprise Architect (EA) or EA Leader

Course Prerequisites

This is an intermediate level course, so we recommend delegates have the following...

• A basic understanding of how cloud computing works, know the key services on your cloud providers, including use cases, billing, and pricing models.
• Understand the basic value proposition of running in cloud and the core concept of using a pay-as-you-go consumption model.
• Have a base level of knowledge of at least one of the three main public cloud providers e.g. AWS (Amazon Web Services), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
• We recommend delegates new to FinOps take the FinOps Foundation's Free "Introduction to FinOps" course available at their site Introduction to FinOps.

Stephen is one of the only people in the world who is a FinOps Certified Professional, Engineer, and Practitioner as well as FinOps Certified Training Instructor.

Rich Gibbons, Synyega

Throughout his 20+ year career, Rich has trained 100s of organisations of all types & sizes across 3 continents in-person - and 6 virtually. He has extensive experience of Microsoft licensing, ITAM, SaaS, and FinOps practices.

Rich is a regular speaker and evangelist on Microsoft licensing, ITAM, and FinOps and is also an active contributor to FinOps Foundation working groups and whitepapers. Rich is well-known and respected for his knowledge, training skills, and thought leadership around Microsoft, ITAM, and FinOps.
