Event description
Join us for a screening of three short films by Julie Brook made during her artist residency at Arts of Place.

About this event

The Arts of Place network has been delighted to host the visionary and dauntless Julie Brook as its first artist in residence. Please join us for a screening of 3 short films made during the residency: ‘Firestacks’, ‘Japan’, and ‘Labour’. Each is an illustrated conversation with Alexandra Harris. Exclusive video footage of Julie working on-site (in the Hebrides, in Komatsu, and in Namibia) is fused with discussion of Japanese ‘heart places’, the rhythms of manual labour, observation and the elements. There will be a drinks interval, time to talk, and all are very welcome.

The screening will take place at 5pm-6.30pm in M209, Teaching and Learning Building, University of Birmingham. The Teaching and Learning Building is next to the Main Library on campus.

For more information and to get a taste for two of Brook's other short films made during the residency, please visit our website.
