FIRE and WATER - a woodland adventure day for children

This full day is based in Shining Cliff Woods near Ambergate.

Please note - the event is for children aged 5yrs and over.

In the morning we will learn how to be safe around the campfire, different ways to get the fire lit and do some campfire cooking. There will be chance to practice some safe fire lighting skills.

Shining Cliff woods is known for its resident charcoal burners of the 17th century, and so we will also make our own charcoal to use for some creative activities.

We will do some cooking on the woodland bbq but please send your child with a packed lunch too, just in case they don't like it! There will also be hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows included.

After lunch we will head to the woodland stream where we will become stream detectives and discover who lives in the water with some stream dipping and identification. We can have fun creating mini boats to sail away!

There will be lots of fun and games, be prepared to get a little bit wet!

(Wellies are a great idea if you want to go in the stream).

As this session may involve getting wet at the stream, a pair of wellies are advised and a pair of dry socks and trainers to change into are a great idea.

It can always feel cooler in the woods even on a sunny day, so warm layers are important with a waterproof just in case. It is far better to get warm and remove a layer than be cold and uncomfortable. We advise long trousers and long sleeves in all weathers to avoid bites and stings.

Children will also need their own packed lunch and drink.

Please be aware that we are unable to refund tickets with less than 7 days notice. For refunds issued with more than 7 days notice, we are unable to refund the Eventbrite booking fees.

To ensure safety for all participants and leaders, a session can be cancelled or postponed by Woodland Connections at very short notice due to forecast high winds or thunderstorms. If a suitable alternative date is not available, we will refund the full cost of the session. We will advise you if this decision has to be made either the evening before or morning of the session.
