About this Event
Target audience: experienced glazers who currently install fire resistant glass into tested fire resistant assemblies. Open to members and non members of the Glass and Glazing Federation in Ireland. All welcome.
Purpose of Training: To provide experienced installers with the knowledge behind good practice in the installation of fire-resistant glazing to enable them to understand the importance of complying within specification contained in test evidence for that fire resistant assembly.
Outcome: Participants will be able to identify the essential components of fire-resistant assembly; provide examples of and results of various fires and the reactions of different types of glass when subjected to fire: describe how fire resistant assemblies achieve containment of fires; describe the types of fire resistant glass available and the performance characteristics; describe the different types of sealants and fixings and how they behave when subject to fire; describe the legal requirements of the Building Regulations and how to achieve compliance; describe the 6 key point Code of Practice.
Describe proper handling, storage, testing and impact aspects of fire resistant glazing.
