Peter Gurney is a retired NHS art psychotherapist, who now does his own art.. and

writes! His work as a therapist has of course had a profound effect on his work. He

has an ongoing interest in the use of mixed materials in painting, collage and

assemblage, and in ceramics. Peter says he improvises, allowing the pieces to

gradually develop and grow, leaving them for a time to ‘breathe’, coming back to

them when it feels right.. and that this approach describes his writing process as

well! He reflects that for him, the Arts are an important way of thinking, containing,

inwardly digesting and communicating about the experience of being alive, one’s

relationship to the world.

Fire&Dust is a pay as you feel poetry open mic event.

Our 'Ko-fi' link, to keep the gigs going is here: https://ko-fi.com/fireanddustpoetry We believe that the arts shouldn't exclude on basis of income, but also that artists should be paid.

We want to keep the lovely poets and audience we've met since going onto Zoom in April 2020 - of course new faces and voices are welcome. We think it's important to keep poetry accessible to those who, for whatever reason, are unable to join our event at the LTB in Coventry UK on the regular slot of the first Thursday of the month, or who want a double helping of Fire&Dust.

All welcome - poets, performance poets, slammers, MCs and anyone happy to listen to some poetry. Bring poems, bring partners/housemates/pets, or just bring yourself along to listen and enjoy. Just don't bring hate.

The gig will take place via Zoom (a web-based video calling platform). In order to access this gig, you will need an internet connection and a computer or device with a microphone, headphones/speaker, and ideally a camera or webcam.
