Firefighter Recruitment Discovery Workshop for BAME potential applicants

This event is aimed at those from a BAME community.
Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) is encouraging people to consider a new career this winter when it opens applications for wholetime firefighters in March 2021.
During the campaign, the Service will be encouraging applications from groups currently under-represented within its workforce, particularly women and people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds.
Under the campaign slogan ‘Yes You Can’, AF&RS will be accepting applications from residents within our Service boundary area which covers Bristol and parts of BANES, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.

Ahead of the opening of applications, AF&RS is hosting a virtual discovery workshop where you can find out everything you need to know about the recruitment process and what it takes to be a firefighter, from fitness and practical assessments to the interview process.
The event will be live on Monday evening from 18:30-20:00, once you have signed up the the event you will be sent a zoom link to enable you to attend. In the discovery workshop we will be covering:
- Depth and breadth of the role
- Development opportunities once in role
- Recruitment process
- Challenges and rewards of becoming a Firefighter
- Overview of practical and fitness test
- Q&A with a panel of Avon Fire & Rescue Service professionals
