About this event
This workshop combines mindful yoga with guided journalling and creative writing as tools for self-inquiry and expression. Participants will be guided through gentle movement and breathwork designed to awaken sensory awareness, followed by reflective creative prompts to translate embodied experience into language and image. No yoga or artistic background is needed - simply a willingness to explore. This yoga and journaling workshop invites you to experience creativity as a full-bodied practice, where movement is a tool for healing and self-discovery. I recommend wearing comfortable clothing. Some basic art supplies will be provided, but please bring any artist’s media you might prefer to work with. I will be using some aromatherapy oils for some massage during the session, so message me to let me know if you have any allergies or requirements for this.
About Facilitator Maddie Mellon:
Maddie Mellon is a London- and Bristol-based yoga teacher, bodyworker, and multidisciplinary artist. Her work sits at the intersection of movement, wellbeing, and creative expression. A long-term yogi and Level 5 sports massage therapist, Maddie integrates deep anatomical understanding with a sensitivity to emotional and artistic process. Through Bold Mellon Collective, she has led workshops across the UK exploring embodiment, performance, and the relationship between body and voice. Through her practice, Maddie invites participants to reconnect with physical intuition and creativity - to listen, move, and express from the inside out.
Please note, our workshops remain open to all but hold a specific focus on LGBTQIA+, Global Majority and Neurodiverse communities from disadvantaged backgrounds, so please be aware and respectful of this when booking and attending.
These sessions have been designed with neurodiversity in mind and with a trauma-informed approach.
All sessions are relaxed, sensory aids will be available and a designated welfare volunteer will be present.
If you have any access requirements you would like to discuss with us in advance, please let us know and we can make provisions ahead of time if possible.
Please also note that the ‘Firepit Feels’ workshops are not a substitute for therapy but are creative, therapeutic tools.
Each workshop is pay-what-you-can, meaning, you can attend for free. Please be mindful when booking, and notify us at least 72hrs before the workshop date if you are no longer able to attend so we can give someone else the spot. Anything you do choose to donate will be channeled straight back into the community project.
