Hosted By Dr Sonia Joshi BDS MFDS MSc MClinDent MRD
Dr Sonia Joshi is a highly experienced Specialist in Periodontics with over 20 years of clinical expertise. Having qualified from Guy's, King’s and St Thomas' Medical and Dental School in 2002, she graduated with distinction and numerous prizes and was nominated for the University of London Gold Medal, an award which provides recognition of the top UK dental graduates.
Following graduation, Sonia worked in Oral Surgery and Restorative Dentistry at Guy’s and St. Thomas’s Hospital and in private practice. She gained MFDS in 2004 and, after completing her specialist training at Kings’ College London, was registered as a Specialist in Periodontics with the GDC in 2010. During this time, Sonia received a Clinical Fellowship Award from the British Society of Periodontology for excellence within her field. In line with her research interest in oral health inequalities, she went on to read Politics, Philosophy and Economics, graduating with distinction.
Sonia has treated thousands of patients with periodontal issues around both teeth and implants. Particular clinical interests include periodontal regeneration, mucogingival surgery, hard and soft tissue grafting, management of peri-implantitis and an integrated approach to complex multi-disciplinary patient care. Sonia focuses on preserving the natural dentition where possible by supporting patients in a holistic way, integrating all aspects of their oral and systemic health to help establish and maintain optimal oral health.
In addition to her work in clinical practice, Sonia is on the executive committee of the Women’s Dentist Network and PortmanDentex’s Clinical Advisory Board.
