Fireworks activities for STEM Clubs
Come and celebrate the fourth of July developing the technical expertise needed to run a fireworks session in a school setting. This free workshop is for those involved in STEM enrichment in schools looking for new activity ideas. This will be an indoor workshop, with demonstrations and hands-on activities using chemicals available in secondary schools. Safety consideration and opportunities for informal learning will also be covered.
This meeting is presented by Matthew Tosh. Matthew is a versatile and engaging presenter, writer, pyrotechnician and education consultant. Previous clients include National Science Learning Centre, European Space Agency, British Science Association, Glasshead Ltd, Brook Lapping Education, Illumina Digital Ltd, Teachers TV, and many more. He was also once the manager of the STEM Clubs Network!
Refreshments will be provided and there will be an opportunity to network with like-minded teachers and STEM providers in the area.
The session is designed to show you how to bring the context of fireworks safely and legally into the classroom with demonstrations and hands-on activities. Please note that it will not include detailed pyrotechnic recipes or methods of mixing your own pyrotechnic compounds.
