Event description
University of Wolverhampton celebrates Women in Law and Criminal Justice with a discussion of experts.

About this Event

The Law Research Centre at University of Wolverhampton is organising a further themed event in celebration of the 1919 centenary. The theme of the event is “Celebrating Women in Law and Criminal Justice.” It has been 100 years since the 1919 Sex Disqualification (Removal) Act, which allowed women in the UK to enter the legal profession (to qualify as barristers or solicitors).

In light of the theme we will host a “First 100 Years Colloquium” in which a select number of experts will be in a themed conversation, including:

Frances Crook (Chief Executive of the Howard League for Penal Reform (Chair))

Suzanne Llewellyn (Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for the West Midlands)

Dr Karlie Stonard (Senior Lecturer in Criminology, University of Wolverhampton)

Carl Hardwick (Governor of HMP Drake Hall, Eccleshall, Staffordshire)

The event is free to attend, and we look forward to welcoming our students, colleagues and the general public.
