Event description

The First 5k is a brand new event for St Elizabeth Hospice. With the new year approaching we want you to make a positive change by pledge to raise £100 sponsorship and train to run your first 5k run all in aid of the hospice. We will provide you with lots of helpful fundraising tips to help you easily smash your target all whilst you train for your first long distance run.

We've worked closely with our event sponsor FTC Gym to bring you a beginners 5k training plan which we will send out to you on the 2nd of January to start your new year's training. You can of course sign up after this point as shorter programmes will be available too.

We welcome all abilities but especially those that want to set themselves this fitness goal, the run itself won't be timed to remove any pressure and you will be running/walking alongside like-minded people with the same goal.

What could be a greater way to reach your new year's resolutions than raising money for the hospice and reaching your first goal of the year!

Make the change and sign up now!

Please read the Terms and Conditions thoroughly before registering for this event.

We would like to thank our headline sponsor FTC Gym for their support.

Just Giving Page

We encourage you to fundraise online via Just Giving, you can create your own page which includes the details of what you are doing, when and why. You can then email the link to your friends, family and colleagues anywhere in the world and they can easily donate online by debit or credit card. St Elizabeth Hospice automatically receives any donations made via your page.

Simply visit www.justgiving.org.uk or contact the Fundraising Team for more information on 01473 723600.

What are the easiest ways to fundraise?

We’ve pulled together some of our easiest hints and tips for raising your sponsorship which you can find here. Don’t be afraid to get creative, there are lots of simple things you can do to raise small amounts that quickly add up to your total or you could even host a quiz with a raffle and raise well over your target all in one go! Don’t forget, you can team up with your friends that are signed up too and combine your totals if you wanted to organise your own fundraising events but need extra support.

What else can I do to raise money?

Many employers will match fund the amount their employees fundraise. Why not speak with your employer and ask them if they will do this? It is quick and simple and won’t cost you a thing. Usually all they require is a letter from us confirming what you have raised and we will happily provide this for you.

Where shall I send my sponsorship?

Please do not bring sponsor money to the event. You can send a cheque to Fundraising, St Elizabeth Hospice, 565 Foxhall Road, Ipswich, IP3 8LX. Please make cheques payable to St Elizabeth Hospice and write your name and First 5k on the reverse of the cheque.

Alternatively, you can bring the money in person to the Hospice in an envelope marked for the Fundraising Team’s attention.

Can I Gift Aid my donation?

You can ask each person that sponsors you to Gift Aid their donation by ticking the Gift Aid box on your sponsor form. If the person sponsoring you is a UK tax payer or pays Capital Gains Tax, they can make their donation worth even more. For every £1 they give to us, we get an extra 25p. Please ensure everyone completes their name and address, including post code in full to be eligible.

Is there any other way I can support the event/hospice?

Please spread the word amongst your colleagues, family, friends and neighbours and get them signed up too!

We also need volunteer support to help the event run smoothly; to get involved, contact the Fundraising Team.

I can't find an answer to my question, what do I do?
