Event description
Join me, Jodi Welch, a fully qualified, registered and insured nutritionist for this informative and interactive 2 hour weaning workshop.

About this Event

My workshop aims to leave you with confidence at starting this new exciting chapter in your baby’s life and to help you to give your baby a life-long love of healthy and nourishing food. You will leave with a greater understanding of:

  • the benefits of a healthy diet for your child
  • how to recognise when your baby is ready for solid food
  • advantages and disadvantages of different methods of weaning
  • which foods to start weaning with
  • symptoms of allergies and sensitivities and how to identify an issue
  • the difference between choking and gagging
  • how much to feed and when to reduce milk feeds
  • things to consider if your baby isn’t enjoying their food
  • general suggestions for helping with colic, reflux and eczema

You will go home with my 'Essential Guide to Weaning' which includes everything I cover. You will be part of an interactive workshop that includes:

  • Tasting session and cold refreshments
  • Hands-on preparation of food for baby led weaning
  • Opportunities for questions and answers
  • Delicious recipes and meal suggestions for their first year and beyond
  • Practical tips on food storage and preparation
  • A copy of my 'Essential Guide to Weaning'
  • Closed Facebook group membership

I am a nutritionist (mBANT) and also a mum of two little girls. I have dealt with eczema, food intolerances and allergies and come out the other side! I also know only too well the likes and dislikes that babies and children can have. The information you receive will be based on the latest nutritional guidelines and advice for weaning babies plus my own experiences.

Find out more about me on Facebook @jodiwelchnutrition and feel free to email me with any queries.

Babies (under 12 months) are most welcome! There will be baby play equipment available during the workshop and you are welcome to stay for an under 5's free play open gymn session from 12.15pm until 1pm . This is included in the cost of the workshop.

No hot drinks and please wear socks inside the play area/workshop room.

Free Parking

Notcutts garden centre has free parking with dedicated parent and child spaces located right next to the main entrance. Gymboree, where the workshop will be held, is a short walk away; just walk straight to the back of the outdoor section of the garden centre. Please allow time to park and walk to the venue for a 10am start.

Here's what past attendees have said about my weaning workshop:

'The recipe/meal ideas were fab. it was really useful to have real food/snacks prepared so we could see how to cut food safely to avoid choking and how to present food so babies can hold it (the banana - great idea) The staging of ages was really useful too as was the food intolerances and allergy information. The info pack was exceptionally useful and something I often refer back to!!' (Jilly)

'It was good that Jodi gave a range of opinions; it was not a dogmatic approach to weaning. It was extremely thorough and you could make your own mind up to the approach you eventually want to follow. Info was well researched, and the handout and follow up emails were really helpful.' (Jules)

'Doing hands-on things like practising cutting food to the right size, tasting food and handling useful containers, cups etc really brought things to life and made it easier for baby brains to remember what we'd covered!' (Vicky)
