Description

First Aid at Work – 1 Day Course

If someone is injured at your place of work, or they become ill suddenly, failure to provide the correct first aid could result in their death or life-changing consequences. As an employer, you have a duty to ensure that anyone who is injured or taken ill at work receives immediate attention.

HSE will prosecute in cases where there is a significant risk, and disregard for established standards or persistent poor compliance with the law. Therefore it is imperative that you have staff on-site who have undertaken a First Aid course

Objectives

The importance of having qualified individuals capable of administering First Aid in the workplace is recognised by employers. Once first aiders have attended the course they will be able to provide basic care and help to injured people before professional assistance arrives.

The courses are designed to give first aiders the confidence to perform basic life support, treat burns, cuts, fractures and eye injuries and have an understanding of the legal requirements and composition of first aid boxes.

What will the course cover?

The course will cover the following:

  • Acting safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency

  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Treating an unconscious casualty (including seizure)

  • Choking

  • Wounds and bleeding, Minor injuries

  • Shock

  • Preventing cross infection, recording incidents and actions and the use of available equipment

About the Trainer

We are delighted to have Rod Jones delivering the training. He is an external trainer who has over 30 years’ experience as a front line clinician. For the last 20 years he has been responsible for the delivery of clinical training and first aid training to the NHS and general public.

As a qualified Trauma Management Nurse and clinical team leader, he understands the importance of quick and effective First aid to stabilise the casualty until further help arrives if needed.

Rod’s wealth of experience is a key asset along with his delivery style and his ability to pitch at the level that promotes understanding is without doubt, the reason that he enjoys a reputation second to none within this field of training.
