About this event
This one day course equips learners to practice first aid for mental health.
The course provides the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions, the skills to start a conversation and the resources to signpost a person towards professional help. Includes modules on recognising and managing stress, and drugs and alcohol. Incorporates the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan and covers ways in which a positive mental health culture can be supported within the workplace.
The course is delivered by a qualified counsellor and a Nuco Training approved instructor. Qualification awarded at Level 2 (RQF) is valid for three years.

Please bring photo ID (passport, driving licence, or other official ID) so we can validate your details before issuing your certificate. You may also wish to bring a notebook and pen but they are not necessary.
Lunch is not provided. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch, or you can purchase food from nearby cafés and supermarkets. Hot and cold drinks will be available throughout the day.
Yes, there will be a lunch break. You are also welcome to step out at any time to use the facilities.
No, the assessment is only required if you would like to achieve the Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health. If you choose not to complete it, you will receive a Certificate of Attendance instead.
The assessment consists of a 40-minute written paper (13 questions) and a practical demonstration of the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan. A minimum score of 20 out of 27 points is required to pass.
Certificates for the Level 2 Award are posted to you after the course, once all paperwork has been validated. They are valid for three years.
Yes, no prior knowledge is required. However, as the course includes discussions around mental illness, some topics may be sensitive. If you find anything distressing, please let your trainer know so we can support you.
