About this event

At this webinar, Hannah Morley, CSP Professional Advisor and former FCP, will reflect on her time as a First Contact Physiotherapist. She will talk through the day in the life of a FCP and discuss some patient case studies.

Hannah Morley is a Professional Advisor with the CSP. She is originally from North Wales and now lives in Bristol. Hannah worked as a First Contact Physiotherapist with Gloucestershire Health and Care Services and went on to become FCP Service Lead of Stroud Cotswold Primary Care Network. Hannah set up the first directly employed peer-to-peer FCP Network in the South West to support clinicians education and training.

Hannah studied her pre and post-reg in Cardiff University and undertook her B5 rotations and B6 in Aneurin Bevan Health Board. Hannah then moved to Vancouver, Canada to work in a major trauma centre and later specialising in Pain Management. On her return to the UK, Hannah worked in Gloucestershire and Herefordshire in Pain Management, MSK outpatients and MSK-orthopaedic triage.

In 2019, Hannah was awarded a Churchill Fellowship and travelled to Australia and New Zealand to research Physiotherapy Advanced Practice. Her report on “Exploring the efficacy of advanced practice in physiotherapy: an international perspective” can we accessed on the Churchill Fellowship website (wcmt.org.uk)and is also hosted on the Advanced Physiotherapy Practice Network research pages.

Chloe Neville is a 3rd year physiotherapy student at the University of Wolverhampton. The FCP placement that Chloe did during her course gave her more insight into advances in physiotherapy practice within primary care. She was able to build on her MSK skills and screening for serious pathology, whilst managing her timekeeping and improving her communication skills. She enjoyed learning about this emerging area of physiotherapy and is keen to share her experiences with other students. After she completes her studies this May, she is looking to start a rotational post within a hospital where she can build on her skills, knowledge and competencies in the core areas of physiotherapy.

This webinar will be recorded.
