About this event
About the event
Join us for an Open Learning experience at the live industrial and innovation hubs of New Covent Garden Market and Mission Kitchen in London’s Nine Elms.
Beyond the opportunity to immerse yourselves in a live industrial site we’ll be sharing everything we’ve learned about Open and Place-based learning in 2 years of experimenting with places and formats.
Join us to hear how we - and other organisations from borough councils and communities, developers to innovation networks, circular economy hubs and conveners - are using place-based models and approaches to build climate action, adaptation and resilience capability. Find ideas and connections to power your own projects.
What you’ll do and learn
- Gain insights from First Hand's Open Learning experiments, from heritage industrial sites to recycling plants, community infrastructure projects and surplus food hubs. See how First Hand has turned real places and local projects into climate learning experiences.
- A showcase of our Community of Practice. Learn how connecting practitioners from different disciplines and sectors helps them build climate capability in their respective contexts.
- The full reveal of our OPEN WORKS database, a field study of over 50 Open Learning exemplars. See how these approaches have delivered:
- Visible engagement & hands-on learning
- Connections across and between sectors, policy, business and research
- Increased L&D capacity
- Measurable outcomes
- Reusable assets & enduring connections.
Who is it for
This event is specifically for changemakers from anywhere: local government, local business, education and community networks who are driving climate, skills and social value agendas in London and the South East.
Accessibility
Your safety and wellbeing have been considered in the event design, please let us know if you have any access needs, and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.
