First Response (module 10)
This module aims to cover the skills and knowledge necessary to enable adults to manage an incident and provide basic first aid. Suitable for first-timers and as your 3 year renewal.
This is the minimum training all leaders and managers should have. There are other options, including recognising external qualifications.
On the day

Aim to arrive 15 minutes early to give yoursefl time to register and have a drink and start to get to know everyone.

Wear suitable clothing for practical sessions some of which are on the floor.

Bring your lunch, hot drinks will be available.

If you have limited movement, inform the instructor on arrival so you can be shown techniques to suit your ability. If you cannot physically do CPR, you can be passed assessment if you can instruct someone else to do it.

You will receive a First Response book and a scout certificate will be awarded. You are assessed throughout the day so there is no test.
CHARGING POLICY: All courses are free for Dorset scouts adult volunteers. However, your district will be charged if you do not attend, charges are £10 - £40 depending on the course. If you are from another county and wish to book, please email to discuss.
