This interactive workshop will cover a basic introduction to careers within the environmental sector plus much more!

About this event

  • Session 1: Introduction to Careers in the Environmental Sector with Clare Rooney – Engagement and Training Manager
  • Session 2: Valuable Volunteering with Lauren Kennedy – Engagement and Training Officer
  • Session 3: Applications that Count: CVs and Cover Letters with Clare Rooney – Engagement and Training Manager
  • Session 4: Impressing Employers: Interviews and Networking with Philip Turvil – Eco-Business Director
  • Session 5: Developing Transferable Skills for Environmental Careers with Keiron Brown – BioLinks Project Manager

Sessions will run for a 5-week series on the same day and time each week.

We will use the same Zoom link and will send a reminder before each session. Please ensure that you are available for all 5 weeks before booking.

A recording will be made available for a short time afterwards to allow full digestion of the learning content. This will be uploaded to the online learning platform.

  • FULLY BOOKED - Spring: Every Tuesday from 3rd May - 31st May at 6:00 - 7:30pm
  • Summer: Every Tuesday from 21st June - 19th July at 6:00 - 7:30pm
  • Summer: Every Wednesday from 10th August - 7th September at 6:00 - 7:30pm
  • Autumn: Every Wednesday from 10th October - 9th November at 6:00 - 7:30pm

Subsidised Price: £30 for non-professional eg. volunteers and students

Regular Price: £50  for working professionals

About this series

The First Steps into a Green Career Online Workshop Series is an opportunity for individuals either interested in a career in the environmental sector or those thinking about their next steps. This event is a series of engaging and interactive 90-minute online workshops that have been developed and will be delivered by Field Studies Council staff from a range of backgrounds and experiences. We host them on Zoom and we will send out joining instructions on the day of the event.
